Windows XP secondary drive SATA not being recognized by Windows

I am currently working on a computer that has known issues with the hard drive (consistent Code 51 errors, routine BSOD). I found the same version of the hard drive that is installed (Samsung HD160JJ). Small 160 GB hard drive. I was able to partition it in a Windows Vista machine, and when installed in the computer with issues, BIOS found the drive. When loading Windows, Explorer did not find it. I went into "computer management" and was able to see it for a second. It then disappeared. I boot the computer back up, and it is there again. While there (all the times that I tried), it was labeled as "foreign" and the filing system was "dynamic".

After reading about the dynamic and trying to change it over to "basic" (I believe that is the term) it switched over. Then, when formatting the drive, the BSoD.

I believe my main issue is that Windows XP does not come with a SATA controller for the NON-Bootable drives. If it is labeled as SATA0 and has the operating system on...
