Why can't I activate windows?

I'm trying to activate Windows, but it's saying I'm not connected to my organization. I think I know what the issue is, but I need someone from Microsoft to confirm and possibly help me with it. I believe a friend may have installed a broken version of Windows or something onto my computer for me.
