PC slowed down a lot after installing a game update upgrade needed or software issue?

Hi everyone,
I’m having a strange problem with my gaming PC. Here are the specs:
  1. Intel Core i5 10th Gen
  2. 16GB DDR4 RAM
  3. Nvidia GTX 1660 Super (6GB)
  4. 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD
It used to run games fine, but after I installed the latest version of a game, the whole system feels much slower. Not just in that game — even normal tasks like browsing or opening apps are lagging.
Could this be because the new game update is too demanding, or is there likely something wrong with my PC (drivers, Windows, hardware, etc.)?
Should I consider upgrading my components, or is there a way to fix this without upgrading?
Any help would be really appreciated!
