Notification popups won't stop

In my browser I often get small notifications that pop up telling me about a message on Instagram, or even a message in a Facebook group. Not for all messages, just maybe half a dozen a day.
I click the box that says don't allow these notifications, yet still they come. Anyone know how I can stop them?
