How to use Windows 11 without Keyboard/Mouse just Controller?

I play games from the couch, it's already messy having a controller aroung i don't want to have a Keyboard and a mouse also. I'm using a mobile app to control Windows but it's annoying, i always have to find my phone, unlock it, check if it's connected, open the app, come on. Since there are so many window handheld console, are there a nice solution to this problem? Moving the mouse around, maybe open the keyboard with a button, something that does not nterfere while gaming tho' I searched briefly online but need opinions!

but it requires some setup. Here’s how you can navigate and control Windows 11 using a controller:

1. Use a Controller with Built-in Support

Most modern controllers (e.g., Xbox, PlayStation, or generic USB controllers) are recognized by Windows 11. However, you’ll need additional software to map controller inputs to keyboard and mouse functions.

2. Install Third-Party Software

To fully control Windows 11 with a controller, you’ll need software that maps controller inputs to keyboard and mouse actions. Here are some popular tools:

a. Controller Companion (Paid)

  • Features:
    • Maps controller buttons to keyboard and mouse inputs.
    • Allows you to control the mouse cursor with the analog stick.
    • Customizable profiles for different applications.
  • Steps:
    1. Download and install Controller Companion from the Microsoft Store or the developer’s website.
    2. Launch the app and configure your controller inputs.
    3. Use the analog stick to move the mouse cursor and buttons for clicks.

b. AntiMicroX (Free)

  • Features:
    • Open-source software for mapping controller inputs.
    • Supports multiple controllers and custom profiles.
  • Steps:
    1. Download AntiMicroX from its GitHub page.
    2. Install and launch the program.
    3. Map your controller buttons to keyboard and mouse actions.
    4. Save the profile and start using your controller.

c. reWASD (Paid)

  • Features:
    • Advanced controller remapping with support for Xbox, PlayStation, and other controllers.
    • Allows you to emulate keyboard and mouse inputs.
  • Steps:
    1. Download and install reWASD from the official website.
    2. Configure your controller inputs to emulate keyboard and mouse actions.
    3. Apply the configuration and start using your controller.

3. Use Windows 11 Accessibility Features

Windows 11 has built-in accessibility tools that can help you navigate the system without a keyboard or mouse.

a. On-Screen Keyboard

  • Steps:
    1. Press Win + Ctrl + O to open the On-Screen Keyboard.
    2. Use your controller to navigate and click on the virtual keyboard.

b. Voice Access (Beta)

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Speech.
    2. Turn on Voice Access and follow the setup instructions.
    3. Use voice commands to control your PC.

c. Mouse Keys

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Mouse.
    2. Turn on Mouse Keys to control the mouse pointer using the numeric keypad (if your controller has one).

4. Use Steam Big Picture Mode

If you’re using a controller compatible with Steam, you can use Steam Big Picture Mode to navigate Windows.

  • Steps:
    1. Install Steam and log in to your account.
    2. Connect your controller and ensure it’s recognized by Steam.
    3. Launch Big Picture Mode from the Steam client.
    4. Use the controller to navigate the interface and launch applications.

5. Use a Remote Control App

If you have a smartphone, you can use it as a remote control for your PC.

  • Apps:
    • Unified Remote (Android/iOS)
    • Remote Mouse (Android/iOS)
  • Steps:
    1. Install the app on your smartphone and the corresponding server software on your PC.
    2. Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
    3. Use your smartphone as a keyboard and mouse.

6. Use Xbox Adaptive Controller (For Accessibility)

If you have an Xbox Adaptive Controller, it can be configured to work with Windows 11 for accessibility purposes.

  • Steps:
    1. Connect the Xbox Adaptive Controller to your PC.
    2. Use the Xbox Accessories App to configure inputs.
    3. Map the controller buttons to keyboard and mouse functions.

7. Enable Controller Navigation in Windows

Some controllers (like Xbox controllers) can natively navigate Windows 11’s interface:

  • Steps:
    1. Connect your controller to your PC via USB or Bluetooth.
    2. Use the D-pad or analog stick to navigate menus.
    3. Use the A button to select items and the B button to go back.

8. Use a Wireless Keyboard/Mouse App

If you have a smartphone, you can use it as a wireless keyboard and mouse:

  • Apps:
    • Remote Mouse (Android/iOS)
    • Unified Remote (Android/iOS)
  • Steps:
    1. Install the app on your smartphone and the corresponding server software on your PC.
    2. Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
    3. Use your smartphone to control your PC.

By combining these methods, you can effectively use Windows 11 without a traditional keyboard or mouse.
