Does anyone know how these xbox recharge kits work?

I had no idea there was a special port for them until I went to install it. I am just trying to figure out how it actually recharges. I am assuming the red arrow points to the recharge port and the green arrows point to the "power the controller" ports like regular batteries do. But, you know microsoft that might be backwards. anyone know for sure?
