Audio Recording

I am not a computer expert. My goal is to record cassette audio into my computer using a digital interface connection, then either burn onto a CD or USB stick. Previously, I was able to record what eventually was a video file which was not my preference. When I tried to upload the cassette using the "start recording" button, it advises me that I am trying to record a video file, not an audio file. Are there simplified instructions on how to download cassettes or LP's then be able to burn to CD or transfer to USB? Tried to attach screenshots below, but the files are too big. Thank you to anyone who can advise in simple terms. I am probably missing something very obvious in the process. Thanks. John
