360 HDMI connection not working

I got my old 360 out along with guitar hero and the controller for it but of course the new TV doesn’t have the connection for the red white and yellow cables so I bought a converter to HDMI and then a female to female adapter to connect the converter to the HDMI to the TV. Everything powers up ok but nothing on the TV. Any ideas? We don’t have another TV to try it on. Should it work in theory like this?
